Steven Mitchell Kenard

Steven Mitchell Kenard, age 68, passed away on September 10, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Steven was born in Savannah, Georgia on November 29, 1956. He was a member of St John’s Church. 

In 1975, he graduated from H.V. Jenkins High School, after active involvement in its ROTC program. After a 45-year-long career, he retired from Savannah Electric/Georgia Power in 2022. He worked in several different departments including Underground Distribution, Transmission, and Forestry & Right of Way.  

He was a member of Landrum Lodge #48 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and the Alee Shrine of which he was Past Captain of the Patrol Unit 1993. 

Known as an avid golfer, he was a member of the Southbridge Golf Club and a past member of the Lavida Country Club. Over the decades, he made three hole-in-ones. 

Steven was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Many knew him as a friend. 

He was preceded in death by his father Edward, mother Bettie Evelyn, and older brother Gary. 

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Joyce Watson Kenard of Savannah, his son Patrick and daughter-in-law Lauren of Savannah; his grandson Owen; his sister Barbara and her husband David Land of Rochelle, Georgia; his sisters-in-law Janice Watson Woods and Frankie Kenard; and eight nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, September 15, 2025 at St. John's Church.

I knew Steve for around 45 years. He was a wonderful friend always was there to help anyone in need. I built his and Joyce house in the 80s out at Winfield subdivision my dad and I developed. We have always been great friends. Steve will be missed.
